Reservoir burning more fiercely

The advantage of posting these a day later, is that I am able
to happily report that this fire is at its worst at this moment.
The Fire did not spread to any homes. Again, God Bless all
who are fighting this fire and keep them safe from harm.. AND
THANK YOU

I have lived here for over 30 years. Before the Reservoir was drained in 1971, after the quake, there were deer and rabbits to be seen. I have more photos to post which I took the day the fire began, clear shots of the rather barren terrain of the reservoir. It appeared as if the brush had recently had a buzz cut. To the northwest of this view there is a small pond that has remained all these years. Canada Geese and other water fowl have been enjoying that portion. Unfortunately, and fortunately as well.. that is where they were taking water with the helicopters... not the only source, but in an emergency it was used. I believe the water used will be replaced. There is more wildlife that lives loose and free outside of the fencing..up in the hills. I saw some frightened deer fleeing the fire, then stopping in their tracks, fearful of the firemen..eventually their fear of the men was less and they ran to...safety I hope. At Pierce College, many people's horses, goats, llamas were taken in... You could contact the Forest Service or whomever has jurisdiction over the public lands. Truly, the reservoir was pretty barren...

My heart goes out to all of the wildlife, too. During the fires that raged here and in the San Bernardino Mountains in Oct. 2003, I felt just terrible..

A lot of words I used, for so few answers... sorry, Connie.. Thank you for caring..

I am trying to find out what if any efforts were or are or are going to be made on behalf of the wildlife trapped inside the reservoir during the fire. Any knowledge on your part?

Christine, I used to live at 22530 Chase Street, across from Chase Street Park (corner of Kentwood & Chase). The Chatsworth Reservoir has always been a concern for us during fire season. I moved to Soiuth Florida in 2001. Please let me know if the houses are okay there! I lived in that house for 17 years.

Thank you!
