the Chatsworth Reservoir is burning...

Unfortunately, this reservoir contains no water. It was drained after
the 1971 Earthquake. To the northwest of this view there is a medium-sized
pond of water. The Canada Geese and other water fowl enjoy its comforts, normally.

The helicopters have been using that water to put on the fire, in addition
to other sources. I watched the largest of the copters come in to scoop up
water.. It looks to me like a huge elephant dragonfly, as it has this
dangling very large hose that hangs down as it flies.

(shooting note: Unfortunately the lens of my Nikon D70 does not fit in between
the links of the chainlink fence. In this shot, I'm standing on some broken
chungs of concrete, and just holding the camera in between the barbed wire topping
the fence, and the pointy tips of the top of the fence.)
