forever...gone

Buddy and I walked up this hill in April and sat and watched the day fade to night.
We had no idea it would be the last time.

The hill in the distance, with the little spine of trees marching along,
is my beloved Shadow Mountain.. A view I have been embracing since 1972...
It remains intact thus far, but the view at my feet is gone. It has been
all bulldozed into level after level of skimmed off dirt, made into layers for houses...

Oh Pooh!

It could be worse.. I could live in the houses to the right of it.
They graded the back yards the same level as the top of those people's
rear fences. There is a big battle going on between those people and the
builders; with a public meeting next week. To me, the battle is lost...
they must have spent a few million dollars in grading alone...
No more meadow, no more trees...
