December 10

I'm working on an environmental portrait this week. The subject cannot be active (can't play the piano, etc.), must look at the camera, each shot must feature a different pose and the subject must be in a completely different position, etc., and it must be in B&W. I used an antique medium format TLR camera earlier this week, but many of the best images were accidentally double exposed (because of the winder in the TLR camera). I don't have much time before I have to submit this, so I bought C41 B&W film and had it processed at Walmart. I'll scan in some of the other shots later this week and add them. This is my husband Cary at his piano.

Like it though it seems a little contrasty and very unusual for a piano player to rest the elbow on the keys.

It would be nice to see a little more into the background (outside).
What might help is if you look at Wired Magazine, some of their stories have very interesting portraits of executives and others not really doing anything, but the often strange juxtaposition, simplicity of composition, and lighting makes them very interesting and edgy.
Hope that gives you another idea.
