Where to Photograph Cougar

I have been told this is the hardest animal to see in the wild on Vancouver Island. There have been cougar sightings in the Mount Douglas area right in Victoria. However, sightings are apparently few and far between.

If you know of a good cougar watching area, please leave feedback about time of day, season and location.

The problem with mountain lions is that they are so camouflaged. You could be looking right at one but you will not see it. I was able to get a picture of a moutnain lion AND they have now earned my full respect when it comes to blending in to their enviroment. I had searched for a cougar for years. When I finally saw it, I saw why I never was able to spot one. If this one had not moved, I would never have seen it. And once he froze in his tracks, it was as if I was looking straight through him, a ghost cat. I saw mine in San Jose, CA. In a small park called Alum Rock Park. They have a healthy population of deer so I imagine the same is true of the cougar population. Good Luck
