Walter Mayer, Jeannine Keener and I were the only ones that made it to the Prattville Cracker Barrel at 7am on Saturday to make the trek to Tannehill State Park for this Capitol City Camera Club Field Trip. This trip idea was hatched as a replacement for the scheduled trip to Cheaha State Park because of the distance and the lack of color at that park but Tannehill proved to be a really good outing. While were there we ran into club member Ann Peak who had had to make a side trip to Tuscaloosa to pick up her grandson before coming to the park.
The day started out pretty cool and stayed that way. There was a heavy cloud cover the whole day which can really be a problem for any shots that would have included the sky but that still left a lot of things to shoot on the ground. The park has log cabins, craft cabins, an old iron works, a grist mill, and several events going on all year. When we arrived we found out that there was a woodcarvers meeting and class going on in the old school house so we made sure to go over there and shoot some of that activity.
After we left Tannehill we made a stop at the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum which gave us an interesting opportunity for some shooting.
Overall, it was worth the trip just to spend some quality time with the others and to get a chance to do some shooting.
