Monthly assignment schedule

* Monthly assignment topics will be posted in the Forum on the 15th of the month prior to competition. (i.e., January’s topic will be posted December 15th.)
* The photographs MUST be taken between the time the topic is posted and the end of the topic month. (i.e., December 15th through January 31st.)
* The photographs MUST be posted on the website in the appropriate Forum no later than midnight on the last day of the competition month. (i.e., January competition photos must be posted no later than midnight on January 31st.)
* The winning photo will be presented at the next regular club meeting following the closing of the competition. (i.e., the January competition winner will be announced at the February meeting.)

Monthly assignment rules

* New pictures only. Only pictures taken during the assignment period may be submitted (see schedule above.)
* Your submission MUST have exactly 490 pixels for its longest dimension. (No less, no more) Also maximum of 90KB per image.
* Your submission MUST be embedded onto your message (no URL links)
* Your submission MUST be free of frames, signatures or borders
* Your submission MUST be in the correct forum thread (i.e., Monthly Assignment #01: Pots & Pans)
* Your submission MUST have a title.
* Only (1) one submission per participant. If replacing your entry make it clear which image is your final submission.
* Stay with the theme and submit tasteful work - otherwise your entry will be deleted.
* Beginning with the November 2007 assignment, winners will be chosen by a vote of the membership. Voting will take place through the Members Forum menu item titled "Monthly Assignment Voting". Each member may vote one time for the image they choose. Voting will open on the day after the assignment closes and will continue through the day before the next regular meeting of the club.
* Failure to follow the rules can result in your not being allowed to participate in the future.
* The assignment winner each month (first place only) will receive a ribbon, one free month of membership in the Capital City Camera Club added at the time of their next renewal and 1 Photographer of the Year point. Beginning in January of 2008 there will be no Photographer of the Year points but every member who enters will receive one Member of the Year point.



Guidelines

* When submitting your image, use the following message subject format:
"#assignment number: title". For example: #01: Wilderness
* Montage techniques are allowed but should be functional and kept to a minimum. Your entries for the monthly assignment should highlight your photographic skills, not your software knowledge



Tips

* If you use Photoshop Elements (or Photoshop) you can size your image to meet the requirements of this contest easily. Just use the "Size For Web" option in the File menu. First, make sure there is a check in the "Constrain Proportions" box. Then, if your image is a vertical (Portrait) image, put 490 in the Height box under Image Size or if it's horizontal (Landscape)put 490 in the Width box then click on Apply. You now have an image that meets the contest requirements for size. Save it and post it in the contest!


* Uploading images to the web does not require going anywhere other than on the "thread" where the competition is located. Click on the title to the thread in question such as "Assignment #02 - Hot!" then click on "reply" at the bottom to that post. A box will open up in which you will fill in your name and email address at the top (unless you are a member and are logged in in which case that info will already be filled in). Type in the name of your image in the main text window then scroll down and click on "Browse" next to "Select Image file to attach" at the bottom of the page. This will open a box for you to find where your image file is located. Double click on the name of the file. When you do, the location will be put in the line on your message and then click on "Submit" at the bottom of the page. That's it. Your Image should be uploaded.
