JUNE 2011 ONLINE COMPETITION - PORTRAITS

This is the June 2011 Monthly Assignment Online photo competition sponsored by the Capital City Camera Club. Members may enter one image each month.

Photos for this contest must be taken between the dates May 15, 2011 and June 30, 2011, and the theme is "PORTRAITS." The photos are to be posted to the pBase site directly or sent to president@photoclub.org or webmaster@photoclub.org by midnight on June 30. The image must be 600 pixels on the longest side. The size of the file is limited to a maximum of 125k.

At least 3 entries must be entered for this competition to be judged. Please do not put your name on your image until after the competition.

From Wikipedia -- A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in photography a portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position. A portrait often shows a person looking directly at the painter or photographer, in order to most successfully engage the subject with the viewer.
