I like this. It works for me on several levels, from the mating of human-made lines with the more random lines of nature, to the interesting and literal overview of a slide of California.
Isn't it funny how plots of land always look like a jigsaw puzzle from up high? Show the mountain breaks the puzzle showing the difference between man and nature.
