Spotted Salamander Eggs - Ambystoma maculatum

Spotted Salamanders lay their eggs in clusters like this. The eggs are protected by a gelatinous matrix surrounding the mass. You can see the developing larvae through the translucent egg capsules. The small tadpoles are Wood Frogs.
