Murphy's Tavern

The images here are from Murphy's Tavern. Three bands played Saturday night to a lightly filled club. "The Electric Road Kings" kicked off the show followed by Bluedog of Minneapolis. The main act was Indigenous, with front man Mato Nanji. This was my first time hearing Indigenous and they were well worth the wait.

The lighting in the club is not well suited to non flash photography, but we were able to grab a few good ones. If you shoot there you will need a very fast lens, and a steady hand. I shot with an 85mm f1.8, and a 70-200 f2.8 and still needed 3200 ISO.

The music was great even though there were a lot of issues with the sound. I hope you enjoy the images.

We shoot with canon's. Quite honestly though, the lens is probably more important. I shoot without flash so having a good fast lens is key. These were shot with a Canon 20D, and the original Canon Rebel, also known as the KISS. I used a 85mm Canon f1.8, as well as a 70-200mm Canon f2.8, and a Canon 20mm f2.8.

The problem with the sound was due to the volume at which Mato chooses on his own amp. Unable to be controlled by the sound guys, which is why they could do nothing,good thing they weren't amateurs.
