Mountain View is one of my favorite towns in Arkansas. It is stuck way back in the hills, as the saying goes, "You can't hardly get there from here." But thousands of people find their way to visit the Arkansas Folk Center, buy handmade crafts and especially to hear the music. There are music halls all over the small, dusty town, but the best seats in town are on the Stone County Courthouse lawn. Dreams are born there as players gather in the evenings to practice, sell a few CDs, and hopefully to be noticed and earn a place on the stages throughout the area. With no microphones, it's grassroots Bluegrass in the raw. Crowds gather with their folding chairs and listen and visit till the last group packs up around midnight.
