Maserati Tipo 61,

Laguna Seca Raceway, Ca.

The Birdcage Maserati. The car got its name the Birdcage because
of the structure of it chassis frame. The frame was made up of over
200 small diamater steel tubes that appeared to resamble a Birds cage.

This came at a time when race cars needed a much lighter and more
ridgid chassis.

This very car was the winner of the 1960 1,000 Km race at the
Nurburgring driven by Dan Gurney and Stirling Moss.

I have a large print of this car framed on my living room wall. The
print is autographed by both drivers and the painter. It also has photos
in an envelope on the back of both Dan Gurney and Stirling Moss signing the limited
edition print.
