Architecture should speak of its time and place, but yearn for timelessness. I find I am very conflicted when it comes to architectural photography. A photograph is supposed to speak to the viewer. This is extremely hard to do when the subject matter is often steel and glass. Add to it that most architectural photographers insist that you must have perfect paralleled lines. For the majority of us who cannot afford the very expensive special architectural lenses, we have to correct the distortion in Photoshop. Personally I do not want to simply record. I choose instead to try and create something original, attempting to honour the architect to the best of my ability. We have all heard "Rules are made to be broken." So I am throwing off the photographic architectural constraints and offering you the viewer my own perspective.
