November 9 proved to be another remarkable day. Our visit to Refugio Paz de las Aves was amazing. Here one can sit in a hide at dawn and watch Andean Cock-of-the-Rock displaying, then see 3 species of Antpittas (we saw only Giant Antpitta) coming when called to feast on worms provided by Angel Paz and his brother. A word of warning: The trails are long, steep and muddy, the hike exhausting, but rewarding. Wonderful refreshments provided by Angel's wife renewed our strength for the rest of the day's birding.
The afternoon was rainy, so at Mindo Loma we stayed in the building and enjoyed the fruit and hummingbird feeders.
