November 8 was an incredible day of birding in the Mindo area. We started the day at Rio Silanche in the Chocó lowland tropics, elevation 300-350m. We spent several hours on the canopy tower watching ever changing feeding flocks and soaring raptors. In the afternoon we stopped in San Miguel de los Bancos at a lovely coffee shop called Mirador Rio Blanco. The shop boasts a beautiful view of the river far below. Just outside their pristine windows an astounding variety of birds feast on fruit and sugar water. Our last stop of the day was at Milpe in the Andean foothilss, 1020-1150m.Then we went on to Séptimo Paraíso, the lovely bird lodge where we spent the next 2 nights.
