The Clam at Aldeborough!

This was made in memory for those lost at sea!
I love the sky showing up the writing,
I HEAR THOSE VOICES THAT WILL NOT BE DROWNED!

The clam is huge in Aldeborough its actually about 12-14 ft high and the 20 ft wide, there were several people behind it so I had to use the magic of photoshop to clone out all the feet and legs!
The other side is more detailed but is not very photogenic, or it might be for those that are good at abstracts.
The villagers were in uproar over this and it took a year of bickering to get it built and placed their, they said it was ugly and ruined the east anglian coastal views.
Were used to it now and go back occasuionally to see if we can get better cloud and light around it!

It's a sculpture by Maggi Hambling, called Scallop, and it's in memory of the composer Benjamin Britten, who lived in Aldeburgh. The quotation is from his opera "Peter Grimes", which is set in Aldeburgh. I think it's very beautiful.

That's incredible. Our townsfolk take a similar view of our martian!

Beautiful. How big is it? You've made it look tiny, like a real clam on sand. GMV
