There are 13 species of minivets in the world and 9 of these can be found in Thailand.
Minivets are part of the Cuckoo-shrike family (Campephagidae) and are smallish slender birds with
a long tail. Feeds mostly on insects (large hairy caterpillars). Many species are colorful and
typically the males are bright red and females bright yellow. The bright colors makes these birds
stick out and they are always a delight to watch. Usually moves in flocks high up in the trees,
but sometimes lower down.
