Mountain Hawk Eagle (juvenile)

Koh Chang, Thailand

With slow wing beats the Eagle took a short flight between two trees after being herassed by a couple of Shikras.

The 5D did a good job of locking on to the bird despite a busy background. Normally I use the 1DMkIIN for flight pictures and was a little worried that the 5D shouldn't be up to it.
I really appreciate the high image quality and the large viewfinder of the full frame, one notch better than the 1D and miles better than the 400D.

Canon EOS 5D ,Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS USM ,Canon 1.4x II extender
1/1000s f/6.3 at 700mm iso400 handheld full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Fantastic shot! What sort of distance away were you? I didn't think extenders were capable of producing terribly good quality, but clearly they are, handheld, and you were able to get 1000th/sec!? Well done!
