Kaeng Krachan 28th of January 2009

A quick visit to Kaeng Krachan together with Tu and Jan to try and picture the Scaly-breasted Partridge which was reported to display at the Ban Krang campsite behind the restaurant.

On the way to the Ban Krang campsite two large fig trees were fruiting attracting many birds, including Great Hornbill and an Eye-browed Thrush. Also a Kalij Pheasant was seen on the road.

At the campsite we waited for many hours but any partridges never showed up. A single Chinese Blue Flycatcher was there together with Orange-headed Thrush, Siberian Blue Robin female and a couple of Forest Wagtails.

In the afternoon we decided to go to a place where Kalij Pheasant and Scaly-breasted Partidges has been seen at the Baan Song Nok resort. A small resort managed by a very nice lady who also is an artist and makes the most beautiful handpainted t-shirts. She have made a scene were the birds regulary comes. We came late at around 5pm but we saw the partridges and the Kalij Pheasant. The pheasants though didn't want to come out from the vegetation. Anyway a wonderful place and we will come back here as soon as we can.
