An short trip to a tempel outside Phetchaburi to photograph Barn Owls.
At dusk we could hear the first Barn Owl which soon came out. In total we saw 3 owls and they took off to feed out of our sight. At 9pm they came back and was peching around the tempel.
Since I'm not using flash for bird photography our idea was to spotlight the owl and use a long time exposure. This worked fine but still you have that flat flash look which I'm not so fond of. However when we were there some workers put up florescent lights in the trees for an upcoming kids festival and voila! we have some soft light which is not defined as natural but "available". After a couple of over 3 second exposures I managed to get a few sharp ones which I liked a lot. No way I flash a magnificent bird like this and I didn't have to.
