He is being portrayed on the day he was executed by the Spanish authorities on the early hours of December 30, 1896.

This is where the golden "footsteps to martyrdom" begins ... it ends up to the place then called
Bagumbayan (literally: "new country") but now called Luneta or Rizal Park.
