I was deeply saddened by the news about Fr. James B. Reuter S.J. He was my confessor for five years while I was taking up B.S.Nursing at St. Paul's Manila. When my daughter, Mally, was to be wed in February 2008, my sister, Beth, called to inquire if Fr. Reuter could officiate, and was told that he no longer performed ceremonies because he was so frail, and had to sit and rest during those events. Beth was speechless when, Fr. Reuter, himself, called her back to assure her that he would do it. And not once did he sit down, until he was wheeled out for his book signing appointment. His book "Mama Mary and Her Children" had just been published and he dedicated a copy to me! "Barbara: The best gift that God can give to anyone is ... a friend! And we have been friends for a long time! May your children grow in grace, and in love, as you have grown. The Virgin Mary is watching over all of you. Gratefully, James B. Reuter SJ" It is I, who want to thank him wholeheartedly, for all he has done for God and for the Filipinos.
