Feast of the Nativity of the BVM, 2008

September 8, 2008 (Monday): Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

This special celebration started three days ago (September 5-7, 2008) with a series of Triduum Masses in the evening leading up to
this special day (September 8) starting off at 6:00 pm with a 'Serenata' (presentation of songs and poems in honor of the celebrant)
and a family-led praying of the Rosary; this is then followed by High Mass at 7:00 pm (wherein parishoners offer cakes during the
offertory) that is highlighted by a short candlelight procession bearing the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary immediately afterwards.

An Agape (read: "Christian love or charity") community get-together offering - what else? - the aforementioned cakes and refreshments
capped off the evening that ended around 9:00 pm. Despite the heavy downpour, the kids all seemed to enjoy themselves just like in
any birthday celebration ("hop hop hop - pangatlong balik na 'yan, baka sumakit na ang mga t'yan n'yo, huh!"). :-)

Today also commemorates the 10th Year of the Traditional Cake Offering and Candlelight Procession held here at the National
Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. Mass celebrant is Rev. Fr. Jean-Paul Avila, our new assistant parish priest as of June 13, 2008.
