The Parish of the National Shrine of Lady of Fatima is the second parish that was established in the City of Valenzuela on March 7, 1961.
The church was initially located in the Gregorio Araneta Machineries Incorporated (G.A.M.I.)
compound along McArthur Highway until a permanent church was built from 1965 to 1982.
On June 12, 1976 the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) declared it as
a National Shrine to foster greater devotion to Our Lady of Fatima in the Philippines.
The Department of Tourism declared the Shrine a Tourist Spot on December 3, 1982. It was
consecrated on December 11 of the same year with 14 archbishops and bishops leading the rites
including the late Jaime Cardinal Sin and the former Papal Nuncio Archbishop Bruno Torpigliani.
It continues to be a beacon of light up to this day for hundreds of thousands of
faithful and Marian devotees who flock to the Shrine for prayer and blessing.
