The historic town of Fairbank is part of the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area. The town was established in the 1880's and was once a busy railroad stop. It has been vacant for about the last 60 years and many buildings show signs of age. The school that was built in the 1920's was renovated by the Bureau of Land Management. The Friends of the San Pedro now operate a bookstore inside the school museum. The photos below show some buildings, then the school before renovation and then the celebration of the school restoration of March 31, 2007.
