Sunday 24th August 2008: Totally Pink (except for the hanger as Phillip helpfully pointed out)

One of my favourite shirts, in pink, from Thomas Pink, on a hanger with pink accents. I bought the shirt a while ago but love wearing it - it looks quite cheerful for work, and is comfy, even when going into funny contortions. My great-grandmother crocheted the clotheshanger cosy, and quite obviously she could see into the future and made it to match my favourite shirt. She died a very old woman of 92 seven years ago. It is terribly quaint, but she was a woman who would save every scrap and thread, and turn them into something useful. I will always keep using these hangers!

It is also my father's birthday today, and while he would have approved of my choice of shirt and profession, I could never convince him that living in England is a great idea... ("What do you want to do with those tea drinkers?" he would frequently ask and I could never give a singularly sufficient answer)

Taken with my new Fujifilm Finepix S5, D-Range turned to 400%. This looks pretty okay straight from camera, just cropped the JPEG a bit. Now for some real photography with the new toy... didn;t want to take it on today's outing, obviously: rain, mud, and the new baby's quite heavy!

I'm surprised there was any pink wool from the VEB Strickwolle :-)

PS: My gran made similar hanger covers (although it's crochet, not knit). Goes to prove that I'm a generation ahead of you, my dear godchild, despite being younger ;-)

Very nice shirt and hanger. My mother-in-law is another keen knitter, am sure she'd
knit a few of these if I put in a request. And congrats on the camera - enjoy.

PHILLIP, yes, it took a while for the eurocent to drop! I know, the hanger cosy is not totally pink, but granny Frieda used scraps of wool... not enough pink for a whole cosy!

Tea: good idea! Green tea here - and what shall we brew for yourself?

MAIRE, thank you! Took a bit of getting used to, the new baby, but there's a wedding in two weeks, it needs to be well worn in by then :)
