We were cycling in T-shirts and shorts an hour or two before this
photograph was taken of Jerry and the bikes at Mt. Cook Youth Hostel,
mid-afternoon of March 21st, the first day of the austral autumn,
two months into our journey around New Zealand. Fortunate that we
arrived in the mid afternoon, because the blizzard lasted all night
and emptied the surrounding mountains - outside our cosy two-bed
room every inch of floor space was occupied by people taking refuge
from the storm.

The following photos were taken during a one-year world tour in
South East Asia, Australasia, and North America that began in
October 1992.
