There is a little pond east of Timnath Reservoir east of Fort Collins on CR-13 where this Neotropic Cormorant was seen doing his wing drying stance. Neotropic Cormorants are very similar looking to the Double-crested Cormorants. One distinguishing feature can be used to tell the birds apart whether they are juveniles or adults. There is a small area directly in front of the eye and above the margin of the beak called the lores. The lores on a Neotropic is dark in color while the lores on a Double-crested is orange.
