Bogota; Colombia's capital city has nearly 7 million people and expands as a long dash from north to south. On the east is bounded by a chain of mountains so expansion has only recently begun towards the west. It sits on top of a meadow surrounded by mountains at 2600 m (8530 ft) over sea level. Weather is a comfortable 18 C (65 F) in average by day with lows of 10 C (50 F) by night. However, by December and January it can be quite hot at noon and cold at dawn. This picture was taken from an observation point in the mountains looking west towards the small mounts of Suba.
