Colombia 2004- 2005

After 2 and a half years without going, from December 23 to January 18 me and my wife went to our native country Colombia. We didn't take as many pictures as we wanted to, but these are some of the most representative of the places we visited. Bogota, the capital, our hometown, was more beautiful than ever. Villeta, a small town, was overflowing with all the hues of green you can imagine, and flowers so beautiful you can't believe your eyes. Boyaca was a spectacular sight with its colonial towns full of history from the independence battles. We specially enjoyed the two day trip to Villa de Leyva and surrounding towns... perfect subject for an amateur photographer as myself. We say goodbye to Colombia with heavy hearts for leaving all this beauty behind but with the hope and promise of coming back soon to visit or, better, to live again.

un saludo desde Costa Rica. soy un joven de 27 años llamado Robert Hace unos años tuve la dicha de visitar su hermoso país de Colombia... quede encantado y deseo volver... las fotos me llamaron la atención y más porque hace unos días pasaron por acá un especial de TV sobre Villa de Leyva y sus tradiciones en especial sobre la Virgen del Carmen y por ello deseo saber si alguién me puede escribir para que me de los datos de como enviar carta a las madres carmelitas que se hallan en ese santuario y también me comenten cúal es la otra fiesta religiosa más vivida por ese lugar además deseo saber si una virgen que se halla como en un retablo o cuadro que según la tradición se renovo es de ese lugar...??? For the "human been" looking for poverty pictures, poverty exist everywhere even here in the US, however I think that it is a state of mind and you are the poorest person I picture in my mind, when you need to actually see poverty pictures to maintain your mind fresh out of the shit you should be living in. Go to hell, Colombia is a part of the most important part of the life of 40M great people with some dificulties but nothing else. Camilo, great work, comeback soon and keep posting

felicidades que bueno que haya quien se preocupe por mostrar las cosas bellas que tiene nuestro querido pais, es tan triste cuando uno esta tan lejos de su tierra y lo unico que ve en las noticias es guerrilla y si hacen peliculas en colombia es solo acerca de la droga como la de maria llena de gracia, orgullosos de la actriz pero no del tema tan trillado que lo unico que hace es danar la verdadera imagen de nuestra preciosa colombia, Colombia es amor, sonrisas, familia y un corazon grande para amar, bien por ti amigazo camilo, bendiciones tu si sabes que es colombia.

Very nice pictures, i'm planning on going to Bogota at the end of this year. I have a girlfriend in Bogota. We are planning on going to Villa de Veyla as well. But can u tell if it's safe for someone from Europe to go there?

You are right. Sadly, poverty is a common sight in Colombia. However, although I am Colombian, I do not live in Colombia. Therefore, the images here are those I liked from the lot I took during my vacations there almost year and a half ago. I wish I could go more often and take many more pictures of all the beautiful things other people have suggested. Don't expect, however, to find pictures of sad things here. That's not what I inteded when I uploaded this galley. I am sure you will be able to find pictures of Colombia's poverty elsewhere on the web. Thank you for visiting my galleries.
