This lens is a great value for the $160.00 I paid. I most got a "good" Copy. Mine is very sharp at 300 and F/7 (one stop down from f/5.6). I went to a little league game and took pictures of the batter, and the eyes are dead on sharp. The wieght and balance is good too. Only issue. Would it to be a tad faster at the long end. But all in all, Highly recomented for an under $200.00 budget. Get a good copy, and you will very satisfied. Peter

A little bit 'soft' at full stretch: but a remarkable lens for the money... -- the macro facility is definitely a strong plus-point. Recommended.
