This is a mighty fine camera, I use it for butterflies and dragonflies... locks on like crazy even under extreme conditions.

I just purchased this camera as an upgrade to my D300, which I have held onto for 10 1/2 years. It was a difficult decision to upgrade because I have been so attached to my D300. I am planning to use the D500 primarily for landscapes and macro despite its widespread description as an action camera. Compared to the D300, its greater dynamic range, better color rendition, and improved capture of detail as well as other advantages are appealing. Of course, the proof will be in the pudding. I hope that those who shoot with the D500 will discuss their experience with the camera.
