I just bought an as-new NASA surplus for this very reason. Love my D300, but the D1X (and D1H which I already owned) look more like the D3/D700 than does the D300.

I owned and used several DSLR Nikon cameras after this one, from the D2x, D300, and now the D700. But I still love the colours, contrast and film/like caracteristics the D1x produced...
Pity the need for more pixels...
