I used only the Canon Powershot s400 (Elph) for the entire 4 weeks of a trip to Turkey -- seehttp://www.pbase.com/andrys/turkey . One caveat is that my monitor was getting too dark so I processed the pictures too bright, but it should give an idea of what you can get if there is a used one available. It's a camera that many still seek out because the lens is said to be better, overall, than subsequent models of that size. The later s410 is a bit better, using the same lens but its red-light focus-aid feature having better quality control. I used the latter for pictures in Italy after my s400 was stolen.
