Moon Shadows

to understand what you're looking at ...this is a time exposure
shot through a chain-link fence, of a tarpulin that is backlit
by a large spotlight with my shadow projected onto it.

I happened upon this construction site one night in the hills
of La Jolla, California and set up my camera, shooting through one of the links.

The moon was all that I needed
to project my shadow and that of the fencing
onto the tarpulin.
I had set up the shot and was prepared to shoot
when all of a sudden the spotlight went out!

Since there was no lighting at that point
I decided to pack it up and leave.

Just as I started to drive off...the light came back on!
evidently on a timer of some sort

Needless to say, I parked and set up again for the shot.
This is the result, after just a slight "darkroom" manipulation.
