I can see your point, you are obviously a man with a eye to detail and appear to know your stuff, however, of ALL the armour on the trip only the 4 x M5 tanks, the half-track c-28 and the M8 armored cars c-1 ( December 1943 ) and C-29 ( June 1943 ) would have stood a chance of being in Normandy in July 1944, all the other armour was made in late 1944, early 1945, and even c-1 has had turret modification in it's long service - hence the late pattern folding mount. If you are strictly accurate there would only be C-29 trundling through Normandy which wouldn't attract a second glance on it's own, wheras 9 of them do. In an ideal world, none of the M8's would date from later than December 1943, but realistically it's utterley impractical

The CB antenna is a compromise for safety and communication. On this day we were in and out of communication regularly and I guess that the antenna made its way up there to bring in the rest of the net

agree with the flash hider, however the .50 mount is original equipment for the M8, fitting the last production series. The M8 is from Feb 45, so very fitting.
