Ash trees

Ash trees along a road on a misty morning
Almost all ash trees in Western Europe are infected with Hymenoscyphus fraxineus, an Ascomycete fungus that causes the death of ash trees. About 70 to 85% of the ash trees will not survive. So the trees in the image are cut down if they show signs of contamination

This is a beautiful scene and thanks for sharing. Well seen, love the light! V
Sad News for sure! I watched dutch elm disease change the landscape of the neighborhood where I grew up. One spring the trees leafed out and by fall all the elms were gone! The change was stunning!

That's a fine stand (and a fine image); fingers crossed they stay clean of infection.

Interesting to read about your ash trees in Europe... they grow like a weed where I live and pop up
where they're not welcome. We have a hedge of them along our road side where I live, and in many
parts of this area. I do love your image, it s really beautiful. v

The atmosphere is so magical! A masterful image in fabulous light and tone. This problem is also here in Germany, so sad for the beautiful trees. V

Such a beautiful, artistic image and such a sad story to go with it. In my part of the world we have a similar problem with some of our trees though the cause is more from beetles. ~BV~

Prachtig, maar wat een triest verhaal. Laten we hopen dat deze groep bespaard blijft van ziektes. Ze zijn zo beeldbepalend. Zo kostbaar. BBV
