Holi Festival at KrishnaTemple, Spanish Fork, Utah
To herald the advent of spring, and the new brighness around them, the Indian festival of Holi is Celebrated. This year in Spanish Fork, at the Krishna Temple, was held what is billed as the largest Holi Festifal in the United States. Rock Bands, Vegan meals, llamas looking on; the celebrants color themselves with Abeer and Guraj (Colored Chalks), laugh and dance. It was a fun day, I was occasionally dusted with color, which caused a good bit of scrubbing of the body and the auto upholstery to come clean. Also, the red chalk turned my white goods pink in the wash, but a second washing with bleach solved that problem.
Pioneer Village-Provo, Utah
In a park in Provo Utah there are several log cabin style buildings, all of which were moved into the park from other parts of Utah and restored as a model of a late 19th Century frontier settlement. When the park reopens in the spring, there will be more photos.
Enjoy!
Pioneer day at Pioneer Village, Provo, Utah 2012
Took advantage of a couple of free hours at Pioneer Park in Provo, and to listen to Elaine Brewster do wonders with a hammered dulcimer. It was fun to watch her interact with the children. Her teaching experience showed through.
Provo Tabernacle Fire December 17, 2010
At 2:00 am on December 17th, 2010, the Historic Provo Tabernacle caught fire. These photos were taken between 9:00am and 10:00am. One lady I met was weeping, recalling the many events she had attended there observing performances by her children.
Provo Canyon and Cascade Springs, Utah
The area around Mount Timpanogas and Provo Canyon is a favorite. On a lovely late summer afternoon, Janet and I went behind Mount Timpanogas, into a valley and to Cascade Springs, the headwaters of Bear Creek. Here are a few shots of the flora and fauna. It is fun to return often to the area at various seasons, each time is a new experience.
Enjoy!
Goblin Valley, Utah and Environs
While Janet was taking classes at Brigham Young University, I wandered south through several small cities, and through Goblin Valley, Little Wild Horse Canyon and Capitol Reef National Park.
A fun and rewarding experience. Enjoy!
A trip along Utah's Highway 89
While my beautiful bride was attending a two-day conference, I snuck off to take pictures on Utah's highway 89 between Orem and Gunnison. Although it is cheating just a little bit, I added a few shots from Levan, which is on highway 28, the fastest route back to Orem.
Ice Climbers at Bridal Veil Falls
Februarfy 1, 2014 Ice Climbers, with a few other pics from Provo Canyon
September trip to Arizona
Took the RV to Arizona via Dead Horse Canyon Utah and Painted Desert.
Sails, Seasons and Sunsets
Some days, I find time to wander around our "new homeland" in Utah Valley and environs. This is a basically unstructured few images that struck my fancy.
Enjoy!
