Xi'an China Lantern Festival

The end of the Chinese New year this year coincided with the annual Lantern Festival. Homes are decorated with brightly colored (usually red and gold) lanterns, to ward off evil influences from the home. The city wall of Xi'an was decorated with gigantic "lanterns" depicting fables and historic tales from Chinese History. The night sky is aflame with massive private displays of fireworks. Sunday, March 4 marked the Lantern Festival this year.
Enjoy!
