52 pontiac.jpg

This is the car in which I legitimately learned to drive, got my driver's license, and used frequently. It had a reputation in Long Beach as being one of the fastest stock straight eight cars in the city. I'm not at liberty to disclose how it got this reputation.
It also got it's first dent when I misjudged the distance between the car and a telephone pole. Fortunately it was a small dent, and I just got a little bit in trouble. My parents had bought the car new in 1952, and got the dent in 1955. I remember we took a cross country trip across highway 66, through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois and finally to Detroit Michigan, where we visited Aunt Marjorie and her husband. They were the grounds managers of Fairlane, the Henry Ford Estate, which was about 1500 acres of tailored gardens and lawn including a natural waterfall and river fed lake. I rowed and fished in the crystal clear lake.
