Blackmud Creek Cabin

Twin Brooks is nestled between Blackmud Creek and White Mud Creek. One of the enjoyable features is this lovely old cabin on the banks of Blackmud Creek. I first photographed it October 2008.

It was around this time that the Light Rail Transit opened just north of Twin Brooks. It is a convenient way for us to get downtown quickly. Unfortunately, it is also a convenient way for others to get to Twin Brooks. As a result, since that date, we have had an increase in homelessness and vandalism.

On this morning’s walk I was shocked to find that the Blackmud Creek Cabin had burnt down. It is clear the fire started outside the cabin. As there is neither electricity nor natural gas to the cabin, the most likely conclusion is that the fire was person started.

A gentleman who lives close to the cabin, told me that the fire happened mid-January 2022 at about midnight. They have no idea who started the fire.

It is sad to have lost that little treasure.
