Greg - thanks for looking and for the several comments.
This was executed by moving the zoom on the lens during the exposure. For this 4 sec. exposure, I'd guess I moved the zoom for only 2 seconds, which created the shafts of light effect. The other two seconds the zoom was stationary is what allowed the barn to retain its detail (otherwise it would all just be a blur).
