Yellow-breasted Chat

Central Park, NYC

Icteria virens

Yellow-breasted Chats are normally shy, skulking birds that forage low within dense thickets. After an hour and a half of waiting, I was pleasantly surprised when this one flew up and perched for a few seconds. They are declining over much of their range.
