Eastern Screech-Owl (gray morph)

Central Park, NYC

Megascops asio

This photogenic little owl disappeared a few weeks after this photo was taken. To make matters worse, its disappearance coincided with the visit of a Great Horned Owl, http://www.pbase.com/btblue/image/54192112 which took up temporary residence within 300 feet of the screech owl's roost tree.

Super shot. I love these owls, but haven't seen one in years. Alberta is in between the ranges of Eastern and Western.

My daughter is moving to New York, New York! in a few days (from her home in L.A., CA!). I am sad she's leaving, I can tell from your photos that she's going to see some beautiful places all around her new home.
