From BugGuide: Trogus pennator is a parasitic ichneumon wasp which lays its egg in the caterpillars of swallowtail butterflies. The larva that hatches eats the caterpillar from the inside out, but still allows it to pupate before killing it. After metamorphosing, the adult wasp chews an irregular hole in the chrysalis to escape.
