Swamp Cicada (male)

Here you can see the 'timbals' which are vibrating membranes in the abdomen of male cicadas. They are responsible for the characteristic sounds produced by these insects.

Guess you have to be an entomologist to appreciate this one Lloyd. Textbook perfect and very alien looking.
