Nyctanassa violacea

Yellow-crowned Night-Herons nest in a residential area within a few blocks of the nature center. This bird was rescued by staff members, fed crabs and placed in the marsh. It stayed in the same spot for hours, but was never seen after that day. Photo taken just after a heavy shower.
