September 12 - Backpack trip to Great Basin National Park, Nv

In June, Ben announces a backpacking trip to the Ruby mountains, outside of Elko, Nevada.
The Ruby mountains are called the Swiss Alps of Nevada.

A couple of weeks before departure, I tell Ben and Susan that the air pollution was pretty bad in Elko from the northern California wildfires.
I offered the option of going to the nearby Great Basin National Park, if things did not improve.

It was soon discovered that the main road into the Ruby mountains had been washed out by a storm in early August.

So, Ben and Susan changed our accommodations from Elko to Ely, Nevada and we prepared for our backpacking trip at Great Basin National Park.

So. we had Ben and Susan, Peter, John T, James from Houston and myself on this trip.
