1999, April 24 - Riding my bike up Mt. Hamilton

Did an organized bike ride from the South S.F. Bay to the top of this peak.
I am pretty close to the top with the domes of Lick Observatories visible.
It was a pretty tough ride and climb, but satisfying that I made it.

This was shot with my first digital camera, the Agfa ePhoto 1280.
It was unique with the split swivel type, which Nikon made popular with
its 99x series. It did not have a visual viewfinder, but relied solely on a LCD screen.
This was its downfall as the batteries would not last but for maybe 10 shots.

Oy! I hurt just thinking about it.
My first dc was a kodak 210,in 1999. Got it esp for a trip to Greece. 'Everyone' thought I was nuts. 'They' still do, but who would have known that the price of that camera was about the price of a mediocre to good LENS now, lol. Guess 'they' aren't too wrong.

Very brave again, Bryan. My first digital was PowerShot S20, still in use.
A beautiful day for riding .... Great capture and point!

You're a photographer and a bike rider! Invite me up your way for a ride, Bryan - I'd even lug my DSLR up Mt. Hamilton for a photo like this one.

Beautiful place for a bike ride Bryan. We really enjoy seeing the pics and reading about all your adventures - hiking, biking, skiing, snowmobiling etc. Here we'd be the ones waving to you from the car. S&L

Congrats on making it all the way. I know I never could at my age.
What a view you must have had from the top.

My legs ache in empathy.
I wish I could feel the exhilaration you must have felt, too.
Congratulations.
Every camera compromises something. Happily, in recent years the concessions are less.

You must really be in good shape. I don't think I could walk up there. :) Beautiful photo and interesting about the camera. I always use the LCD on my digicams because the viewfinder isn't an accurate indication of what the camera shoots.

Looks a steep climb - but what a view!

I envy your ride Bryan.
